Piano Lessons with Eveleen

Originally from Miri, Malaysia, I came to New Zealand when I was 17. I began my piano lessons in Malaysia at a young age, completed my ATCL and obtained my LTCL diploma in 2006 from Trinity College London. Before coming to New Zealand I have joined various national festival competitions in Malaysia and have had numerous successes. I have played as a piano soloist and the 1st violinist in one of the Miri youth orchestras programme. After settling down in New Zealand, I won the 1st prize in the 2008 University of Otago Sheilah Winn music composition at National Festival (Wellington). In 2012 I won a first prize and a running up in the multi categories Te Awamutu performing Arts competition. In the same year I have also won a first prize in the piano duet category of the North Shore Performing Arts competition.

I completed my Bachelor of Music degree with honours in Piano Performance at the University of Auckland in 2013 and have also received developmental trainings conducted by New Zealand Suzuki Institute which includes Suzuki Philosophy and Suzuki Piano Teaching. This, coupled with my exposure to the Yamaha's Junior Music and Junior Extension Courses which are music appreciation and creativity courses I undertook in Malaysia in conjunction my piano lessons, provide me with a strong basis in developing myself musically and professionally in music education.

Teaching music is my passion which I have started part time since 2009 while pursuing tertiary education. I commenced running my home piano studio specializing in Piano lessons since I graduated from university in 2013. In 2014, I attained the status of an Associate Member with The Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand.
